Our Midnight Marquetry backgammon set captures the sense of scale, vast skies and sweeping landscapes of America’s legendary sun-drenched beaches in Miami and LA after dark, with the palm trees – so evocative of America’s sunshine coast – illuminated by mother-of-pearl stars that twinkle in the light.
I worked with my marquetry artist to choose woods that perfectly mimic the colours and textures found in nature, which brings a beautiful depth to my Midnight backgammon set. The effect is exquisite, with the different grains of the woods describing the movement of the waves and the lushness of the palm trees.

Playing on our Midnight Marquetry backgammon board is always an occasion, with the bright blue feathers of a parrot and the tropical pink of a flamingo beautifully translated in different sustainable woods. Illuminating the scene, each of the mother-of-pearl stars has been individually inlaid by hand by a marquetry artist.
