Perfect geometry
The sleek, geometric design mimics the zebra-like patterning on the feathers of a Lady Amherst pheasant – an enduring source of inspiration for Alexandra – interpreting an original hand drawing through the art of wood inlay on the playing surface.
a hypnotic arrangement
Alexandra chooses the dyed blue bird’s eye maple wood for her Geometric Turquoise backgammon set based on its uniformity of colour and the quality of its graining and patterning. Bird’s eye maple wood acquired its name from the tiny knots in the grain that resemble spots or swirled birds’ eyes and are so appealing to artists who work with woods.
A precious jigsaw of woods
Alexandra’s marquetry artist precision cuts the sustainable sycamore, walnut and blue bird’s eye maple wood veneers into hundreds of miniature pieces before individually assembling them on the board, bringing the dramatic design to vibrant life. To prepare the board for a lifetime of play, an expert in hand-lacquering seamlessly seals the board for a matte satin finish.
