Whether you crave the atmospheric click-clack of a wooden board or desire the softer, quieter experience of playing on leather, we offer three playing surfaces for our backgammon sets. The finish you choose will depend on the energy and pace of your play.
1. MARQUETRY
The satisfying sound of pieces being moved around a wooden board is familiar to anyone in the Middle East, where backgammon is played every day. Inspired by the classical board designs, inlaid with wood, that are popular in the region, we offer a selection of Tournament-sized backgammon sets with wood marquetry playing surfaces that offer a rich and melodic playing experience.
2. PRINTED ON WOOD
Celebrating the ancient tradition of playing backgammon on a wooden board, our printed wooden playing surfaces contrast the vibrant imagery and photographic elements of Alexandra’s designs with the natural beauty of wood. Available in our Tournament size, each board is printed in flawless detail by fine art printers in the UK, with the click-clack of playing pieces bringing a sense of occasion to the game.
3. PRINTED ON LEATHER
The newest addition to our range of handcrafted playing surfaces, a printed leather board offers a quieter game, as preferred in the US and UK. Both our Table Top and Travel backgammon sets are available with leather playing surfaces, which are printed by a team of artisans who specialise in the challenging process of reproducing complex designs on this soft natural material.
