Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, AMEX and Google Pay. If you prefer to pay by bank transfer, please contact us directly and we can send you an invoice with our bank details.

Which countries do you deliver to?

We can deliver worldwide – simply choose this option from the dropdown menu at checkout. If your country is not on the list, please get in touch for a shipping quote.

Do prices include VAT? (UK sales tax)

All prices on our website include 20% VAT (UK Sales tax). If your shipping address is outside the UK, VAT will be automatically deducted at checkout.

How can I see prices without VAT? (UK sales tax)

If you are shopping outside of the UK, VAT (UK sales tax) will be deducted from the price at checkout. If you would like to view the price of all products excluding VAT, add a product to your basket, enter a shopping location outside the UK and the website will display prices minus VAT.

Are orders sent gift-wrapped?

Yes, orders are sent in a presentation box with a gold-foiled Alexandra Llewellyn logo and gift-wrapped in black tissue paper and ribbon. Backgammon sets are presented in a black cotton velvet bag for additional protection and travel sets in a black Alexandra Llewellyn slip case. All our packaging is made in the UK.

You have the option of requesting a handwritten gift note during the online checkout process.

How do I store my stone playing pieces?

Our natural semi-precious stone playing pieces will chip if not handled with care. Be sure to store them in the tray or compartment in your game. Do not leave them loose within your games set.

Is my game waterproof?

No. Our products are hand-lacquered to protect the wood and leather, but knocks or wet spills can dent or stain the surface. If exposed to water, do not dry with direct heat. Mop up any spills immediately with a clean cloth.

How should I store my game?

Please store in a dry place and avoid contact with humidity and dampness, and exposing the game to extended periods of sunlight and heat. We recommend keeping your game in the sleeve supplied when not in use.

How should I clean my game?

For repeated cleaning, we would suggest using a micro-fibre cloth to lightly dust and remove finger marks and other impurities from our wooden products. Leather products should be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution and left to dry naturally.

What is the cost and lead time for a bespoke commission?

Pricing depends on the product, materials and techniques used.  Bespoke photographic backgammon boards begin at £14,000 (inc VAT) and marquetry backgammon boards from £22,000 (inc VAT). Our bespoke games tables begin at £32,000 (inc VAT).

The lead times for our bespoke items vary between 4 and 14 weeks. Please contact us for further information.

What is a bespoke ‘commissioned’ order?

It is a completely custom-made game (or product), designed by Alexandra, exclusively for you, your recipient or your brand. You can learn more about the Bespoke Process here.

Do you make items other than games?

Yes! We have made all sorts of custom creations – furniture, mirrors, jewellery boxes and cigar humidors, to name a few. Please contact us with your idea and will be delighted to show you examples.

How do I return an item?

Please contact us before you arrange a return.  You must use appropriate protective packaging and ship the product using a tracked service.

We recommend DHL or FedEx to minimise the risk of damage or the product getting lost in transit.

What is your returns policy?

As long as the product and its original packaging are returned in perfect, unused condition, you can return it to us within 14 days of receipt at your own shipping expense.

Please note that any personalised, bespoke or made-to-order products cannot be returned.

Can I see what my personalisation will look like prior to delivery?

Yes, our team will send you a digital mock-up of the engraving for approval.

What is the lead time for personalised products?

Our standard lead time for personalisation is 2 weeks. If your order is urgent, please contact us directly.

Which products can be personalised?

Our full-size tournament and travel-size backgammon boards, playing pieces and double cards boxes can all be personalised.

What are import duty charges, and will I be charged for it?

Duty charges are a type of tax on goods entering a country. Customs at your chosen shipping address country will calculate these taxes at the point of entry, and you will need to make payment directly for these locally collected taxes.

Which shipping method do you use and how can I track my shipment?

We use DHL Express for most of our shipments. You will receive an email with tracking details as soon as your order has been dispatched.

How long will it be until I receive my order?

All items in stock on the website will be dispatched within 5-7 working days unless otherwise stated. Shipping times depend on your destination and local customs controls. Please contact us directly if you need your order for a specific date.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping costs depend on the country we are shipping to and will be automatically calculated at checkout. We offer complimentary shipping within the UK.

Will my order come with a Certificate of Authenticity?

With the exception of our playing cards, every Alexandra Llewellyn product comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Can I order a backgammon board from the online shop in a different wood?

Yes, we have a variety of woods in stock. If you prefer a lighter or darker wood to match your decor, get in touch and we will send you some options. Once we have confirmed availability, you can simply place your order online.

Do you have any other designs available that are not listed on the website?

Yes, we have an extensive archive of designs that can be made to order on request. If you are looking for a specific theme or colour scheme, please contact us directly.

Do you offer gift-wrapping and gift messages?

Yes, all our products are carefully gift-wrapped and come with an elegant presentation box that also serves as protective storage. You can add a personalised message to your order at checkout or email us directly with any special requests.

How will my order be despatched?
