Shaded by flourishing palm fronds, a brightly coloured parrot perches on a chevron triangle, contemplating how a rare Luna moth, indigenous to North America, has made its way into his habitat. Meanwhile, crouched in the corner, a monkey surveys the colourful jungle scene. Filled with charming and unexpected details, the design is classic Alexandra Lllewellyn.
From the hummingbird’s vivid blue Tulipwood body to the walnut, sycamore and oak woods used to create the monkey, each creature has been intricately crafted by hand using the art of wood inlay. Look closely and the wood grains perfectly mimic the appearance of the monkey’s fur – a detail that brings an almost three-dimensional quality to this cheeky primate.
Designed to enhance your game of backgammon, the set comes with 30 semi-precious playing pieces made of labradorite and white marble, encased in brass.
Every detail is carefully considered to enhance your playing experience. Touched by nine different workshops in the UK, our Jungle backgammon set celebrates time-honoured crafts and is brought to life by leading artists in their fields, including an authority in the rare handcraft of marquetry, a master joiner, a leather artist and a specialist in hand-lacquering.
