I designed the Parade Travel Set after spending the day at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Standing beneath towering works, by artists I have always admired, it was a reminder that simple geometric forms can hold so much power
Inspired by the dynamic beauty of sculpture, observed outside, in the open, Alexandra’s original design transports us to an abstract landscape where geometric shapes align in sculptural compositions that float in space, beyond the realm of gravity.
Presented with luxurious semi-precious playing pieces in gentle, grounding orange and green agate, the Parade Travel backgammon set opens to reveal a leather box containing the playing pieces, dice and doubling die, and is perfectly sized to fit in your suitcase.
Appearing almost three-dimensional, the abstract landscape is digitally printed with incredible photorealism on the leather playing surface, with the jet-black backdrop accentuating the bright palette of colours in Alexandra’s design.
