A VIBRANT DESIGN
The geometric playing surface is an Alexandra Llewellyn signature, inspired by the zebra-like patterning on the feathers of a Lady Amherst pheasant. Dyed Madrona burr wood, chosen for its striking blue colour and beautiful patterning, is accompanied by vivid red jasper and shimmering mother of pearl playing pieces encased in warm brass.
CRAFTED FOR A LIFETIME
Inspired by the exciting world of gambling, Alexandra’s design is brought to life by a marquetry artist who begins by cutting the different sustainable woods into hundreds of miniature pieces. Individually assembled on the board by hand, special attention is paid to the direction of the grains in the wood so that each piece perfectly complements the next.
FULL HOUSE
Alexandra’s design features the four suits in a pack of cards, inlaid in sycamore wood to replace half of the triangles on the board. Each hand of four Aces is meticulously handcrafted in wood marquetry, with the trompe l’oeil effect in Alexandra’s design recreated using hot sand shading to bring a beautiful sense of three dimensionality to each playing card.
