FULL CIRCLE

The concentric design is highly complex, with the circles comprising hundreds of pieces of purposely chosen wood. Shaped according to the direction of the grain, each piece is cut by hand by the marquetry artist so that the patterning on the surface of the woods aligns perfectly with the position of the circles within the design, which radiate across all sides of the box.

Like the growth rings that indicate the age of a tree, Alexandra’s handsome design reflects the hypnotic pull of poker, when the table becomes your world, you are completely absorbed in the tension of the moment and all that matters is your opponent’s reaction to your next hand.

EXPERIMENTS IN WOOD

The incredible attention to detail continues inside the box, with the inner lid featuring concentric circles of alternating ziricote wood and walnut, inlaid with the classic suits in a pack of cards. Using a piece of wood chosen for its deeper tone, the marquetry artist has created a trompe l’oeil effect behind each of the four suits, introducing a beautiful sense of three-dimensionality.

SIGNATURE DETAILS

 

Housing 305 traditional clay poker chips, custom made by the oldest poker chip makers in the US, and two packs of Alexandra’s Signature geometric playing cards, the dealer button is carved from semi-precious orange agate, laser engraved with the letter D, and the blind buttons cut from luxurious mother of pearl.
