The geometric patterning on the poker box was inspired by the feathers of the Lady Amherst pheasant – a common sight in the British countryside of Alexandra’s childhood – with the four suits in a pack of cards inlaid in the centre of the lid.

Rarer than a diamond

Formed when prehistoric forests were submerged underwater 4,000 years ago, the box is crafted from partly fossilised Bog Oak. With its beautiful dark colour and unique texture, it is one of the rarest and most sought-after woods in the world, and because of its extraordinary strength and hardness, special machinery is required to mill it.

A modern twist on an ancient craft

The entire box, and the inside lid, are inlaid by hand to create the intricate wood marquetry design. Working with over 1,000 pieces of individually cut wood, the marquetry expert uses the grains and patterns inherent in the woods to describe the rich colours, shapes and textures of Alexandra’s original artwork.

Only the best

Housing 500 traditional clay poker chips, custom made by the oldest poker chip makers in the US, and two packs of Alexandra’s Signature playing cards, the dealer button is carved from cool, grey granite, laser engraved with the letter D, and the blind buttons cut from luxurious mother of pearl.

Handmade by Alexandra’s highly skilled master joiners, the precise, seamless construction of the box is further elevated with thoughtful design details, including polished brass hinges, leather-handled trays on two levels, two secret compartments and a brass lock.

Make it personal

From laser engraved dates and initials to customised poker chips or even a private, handwritten message hidden on the inside of the box, the opportunities for personalisation are endless.
